Spree Comtess / Popkomm

Thursday, September 15, 2005. 17:05.
River Spree, Berlin.

Three frogs and two sojies arrive at the dock of a fluvial passenger ship reconverted to a rock and roll floating club. They carry not only their beloved instruments, but also some amplifiers, cables, boxes and such stuff. Or the "Kram", as someone would call it.

Invited by the Luxemburg Ministry of Culture as the representatives of Spain, the Popkomm's featured country this year, the event is a very special one for them, having the chance to play with Daniel Balthasar and Metro from Luxemburg and Myballoon from Berlin as well. All of them did a great show, even in the miserable organizatory circumstances almost all the bands had to endure. But you know, Ministries are not especially fit in organizing concerts...

The ship sails through Berlin's uncountable canals for hours, and it is incredible to be actually playing in a ship while watching the city pass at the window. Completely bizarre. But great for relaxing on the deck and seeing the city from a complete new perspective.

Finally around half past eleven, the three frogs go onstage and do their sweatiest, warmest and one of the most memorable gigs up to date. Somehow incredible too that the fans knew the lyrics to "Off The Tide", which had been played only last week at the Aufsturz but is still not released. It will be cool to hear them sing it in the cinemas when it gets played in the film "Ludgars Fall".

Summary of the evening? We are Frogcircus. Fuck you, this is what WE do.
