Recording "Off The Tide" (The Factory)

OK, let's start with the truth: the first day of recording (Sep. 3) went everything but well. A complete disaster, some might say. Well into the recording our engineer Patrick noticed some strange noises and discovered that all we had done until then was ready for the trashbin. Nice, huh? Welcome to the digital era...

So after some brainstorming and a few desperate "fuck", "shit" and "joder" while munching pizza, chips and other similar unhealthy food, we decided to leave it there for the day (the night to be more accurate), go to bed and reconvene in the studio again on Monday (Sep. 5). That is, yesterday (which is why I'm so dead tired today...) Anyway, yesterday evening we drove again to Fürstenwalde, to the brand new Factory Studio, and started from scratch again recording this song for the movie Lugers Fall.

This time everything went smoother. About fucking time. The new drums were laid down by Trommel Tobi in just a few takes, and then he decided he needed rest and went to one of the beds we have at the Factory (cool!) while Timo did his share on the bass and brought the house down with The Mighty Fifth String... Boummmmm! Just cool :o)

Then it was my turn to drive the amp to eleven and have some fun. Our good friend and sound engineer Mirsat Neziraj lended his way-too-cool-brown-suede-covered Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier for the sessions, and I must say, that amp fucking rocks! It comes from behind and jumps to bite you on the nuts like few other amps can. Aaah, more GAS.

Mighty rhythm guitars overdubbed over and over again, a few licks, a not-so-well-rehearsed solo (sorry guys!) and then time to do some vocals. As usual the longest part of it all, and the one I like less. We should do the vocals the first thing and then the rest afterwards... Anyway, the clock said it was 02.30 when we left the building, and if you add one and a half hour to get back home, you'll imagine how bloody tired we're today, all of us I believe. At least I am. I'm fixing caffeine into my veins right now to stay awake... Tired but happy. Another track in the sack. Now go to the movies and get to hear it before anybody else.

Zzzzztone
