Spandau City... Janz Weit Draussen

Another Friday night, another gig, another bunch of funny stories to tell our grandchildren. The JWD club in Spandau is by far the absolute cleanest, tidiest and best organized club we've ever had the pleasure to rock. Incredibly easy to load in all the equipment, unbelievably cool backstage room... somehow you keep noticing that it's a woman the one in charge here. If all clubs were run by women...

We arrived around 7 pm for soundcheck, and after a few knob twists here and there, everything was set, so we decided to use the spare time to go over a few of the new tunes we had prepared for the night. Workaholic bastards as we are, we've been already working on new songs for the follow-up to Allergic, and tonight saw the premiere of quite a few numbers (plus new ones we played last time at Magnet). After the soundcheck/rehearsal, time to rest a little bit until showtime.

At exactly 10.10 pm we hit the stage to a mixed crowd of locals and fans from Berlin who came "janz weit draussen" (very far away in Berliner slang) to watch the froggies perform their best summersets and dancing fleas. This was a two-set concert, each running up to 40 minutes. In the first one our TrommelTobi fell victim of a "lapsus mentalis" and simply forgot how to start An Ocean Apart, so after a few laughs we somehow continued it and played by far the fastest version of that song ever! :o) Frog'n Roll!!! (Of course, as silliness is contagious, I later simply forgot to play Gorgie Rd as well, ehem). Only the Bajo didn't forget anything this time...

After a racous rendition of the Beatles' Back In The USSR we did a wee rest of about 10 minutes and got back onstage for the second and final part of the show. And if you want show, man, we'll get it done! Mach Schau!! There were no string tangas and bras during Toxic this time (oooohhh...) but some younger (and older) fans decided it was time for a little pogo dancing. Jawohl!! After premiering a quite fast and heavy number called Stitch The Memories Together we finished with While You Can and were surprised by loud screams of "Zugabe!" (not Mugabe, "we want more") so we reassembled all our brain pieces together and decided to play Nirvana's Breed as the encore (but first discussed the key for a few minutes!). Pure energy, man... This little band fucking rocks!

After the show, beers here and beers there, silly little beers everywhere... and finished was a very nice gig in what has officially received "The Cleanest Club In The World Award" by the Frog Academy Of Unpure Arts.

Love+Shampooooo....
